A parting is a line of scalp exposed in a person’s hair by combing the hair away in reverse directions to either side. Solitary partings can be central (Fig. 1) or at one particular facet of the head (Fig. 2). In dolls the partings are fashioned by tying the hairs together (Fig. 1), sticking on the “hair” in such a way as to type a parting (Fig. 2), or by sewing a line of stiches (Figs. 3 & 4).
